Adolescence is an incredible time of transition and a wonderful opportunity for growth. It is also often a turbulent time, during which the crucial task of separation-individuation often requires a struggle for independence that can be painful for both parent and child. Support of a seasoned therapist during these years can ease this struggle for all parties.
I am particularly fond of working with adolescents and young adults because of their thirst for self-discovery and gratification in increased insight. The pressures of social, academic, and familial life can be overwhelming to say the least, and through compassion and psychoeducation, I find that my non-judgmental attitude is a tremendous asset.
